Latest NewsBoorowa Council Newsletters 2008 - 12 Aug 2008Please find attached Boorowa Council Newsletter August 2008 more ..Local Government Elections 13 September 2008 Information - 28 Jul 2008 Council Elections Becoming a Councillor and Election Day Arrangements The coming elections are being managed by NSW Electoral Commission; not by Council. Anyone considering standing for a position of Councillor should go to the NSW Electoral Commission website www.elections.nsw.gov.au to check on a range of information prepared by the Electoral Commission. The commission is also organising a state-wide advertising campaign, to promote the lead-up to election day for the benefit of potential candidates and voters. The NSW Department of Local Government www.dlg.nsw.gov.au has produced a publication on "Becoming a Councillor" for the 2008 elections. The Local Government and Shires Association of NSW www.lgsa.org.au also produces information for Councillors. The Electoral Commission has appointed Mrs Louis Manwaring as Regional Returning Officer to administer the elections for Boorowa Council, Young Shire Council, Harden Shire Council, Cowra Shire Council and Weddin Shire Council. All enquiries about the election process, absences on polling day, postal and pre-polling voting should be made direct to NSW Electoral Commission on 1300 135 736. The closing date for the residential Roll of Electors is 4 August 2008, if you are unsure about your registration at your current address, please check with NSW Electoral Commission before then to to ensure that you are properly recorded on the roll. Candidates must obtain nomination forms and associated information from the Commission. Candidates are to lodge nomination forms at Council from 8.40am on Monday 4 August 2008 and close at 12 noon on Wednesday 13 August 2008. Staff will issue receipts for the election deposits on behalf of the Electoral Commission and immediately fax the nomination forms to the Commission. All enquiries about the nomination process must be addressed to NSW Electoral Commission on 1300 135 736. more ..Boorowa Council Water Restriction Levels - 06 May 2008 Council has currently imposed water restrictions at level 1 - an odds and evens system will now operate. If your property has an even house number, you are allowed to water on even days of the week. Alternatively, odd numbers water on odd days. Where the month ends on an odd day (that is 31st), both odd and even numbers are allowed to water on this day. Watering can only occur from 6am-8am and 6pm-9pm. Please find below water restriction levels and a PDF of all water restrictions that may be read or downloaded. If more information is required please contact Boorowa Council. more ..Boorowa Council Garbage Tip Opening Hours - 14 Aug 2007 The Boorowa Council Garbage Tip will be supervised by a Council staff member as from Wednesday 29th August 2007. The Tip will be opened from 8.00am to 4.00pm on the following days: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday At other times the Boorowa Garbage Tip will be closed. When open a Concil staff member will be onsite to assist people by directing them to the correct location to deposit material. The staff member will not be assisting in the unloading of material.
